| The
day after her 35th birthday, Lisa's mom insisted that
she attend a Creative Memories party being held at her
home. Having raised one too many celebratory
glasses of champagne, Lisa told her that she wasn't
going to make it. Lisa’s mom informed
her that she that even at the age of 35 she had to do
what her mother says so off to the scrapbooking
workshop she went.
Over $300 later, Lisa was hooked.
Lisa began to share her love of scrapbooking and
soon a group of her friends began to get together once
a month to laugh, eat and work on their albums.
They needed a name.
The group felt that what they were doing was
similar to the quilt circles of days gone by…women
coming together to talk, share and create.
So, the name The Crop Circle was born.
A logo was designed, T-shirts were created and
the scrapbooking continued.
When her husband, Andrew, wanted to open a
scrapbooking store, Lisa was hesitant but excited.
When they decided to go for it…the name came
easily. So, in honor of Lydia, Dania, Alison, Cynthia
and Jeanne, the original crop circle members, the
store was named The Crop Circle.
When not at the store, Lisa takes her 13-year old
twin boys to baseball practice, rehearsals, baseball
games, to the beach, baseball practice…you get the
idea. She
also runs a public relations consulting business!!
When Lisa and Andrew designed The Crop Circle they
wanted it to be a place where you could hang out,
relax and be inspired.
They hope that you feel welcome every time you
enter the store!

Andrew worked in the aerospace
industry for many years.
When his company was acquired and he found
himself out of a job, he wanted to get out of the
corporate grind and start his own business.
He was amazed at how much money his wife, Lisa,
spent on scrapbooking supplies and thought if there
were lots of other women in the Westchester area like
her, then a scrapbooking store might just be the
answer. As
he and Lisa were eating Thai food they noticed a
"For Lease" sign, called and found a home in
the Westchester Triangle.
Andrew got busy tearing down walls, building
the islands, painting the walls and turning a space
that had been empty for almost 7 years into a warm and
inviting scrapbooking store.
And, thanks to a lot of help from his
brother-in-law, Todd, The Crop Circle opened on
December 17, 2004.
So, the scrappers weren’t breaking down the doors
the first year and with mortgages to pay and growing
teenaged boys to feed, Andrew reluctantly went back to
the corporate grind.
The Crop Circle isn’t the same without “The
Tall Guy” around but you may catch him at the store
on the weekends or during Friday night crops.
When not making the ladies laugh at The Crop Circle or
on the freeway driving to and from Burbank, Andrew
LOVES to golf, play more golf, and golf some more. |
